DELFT, NETHERLANDS --(December 13, 2021)-- SEEQC, the Digital Quantum Computing company and QuantWare, a Dutch quantum computing startup, today announced a partnership to co-develop an advanced Quantum Processor unit (QPU) with integrated cryogenic digital control logic. This partnership combines the unique chip-scale architecture of SEEQC’s proprietary platform with QuantWare’s scalable QPU design and fabrication.

The result is the world’s first commercially available platform utilizing an integrated gate-based quantum and classical logic chip, capable of overcoming key scalability engineering bottlenecks of superconducting quantum computers.

Quantum computers have the potential to disrupt fields such as finance, medicine and material science. However, the technology’s current challenge is scalability, most notably in getting the necessary signals from their generating hardware (typically at room temperature) to the cryogenic quantum processor. The scalability challenge is similar to those faced by classical computers before the advent of the integrated circuit.

SEEQC and QuantWare are overcoming these challenges by integrating signal generating hardware in a QPU. QuantWare’s commercially available QPUs will be integrated into SEEQC’s state-of-the-art fully digital quantum computing platform. Together, the companies hope to solve these bottlenecks to building quantum computing platforms with much larger scale and more affordably manufactured QPUs than available today.

“As we continue on the path toward scaling our platform to the thousand-qubit level and beyond, this partnership will help us navigate several hurdles,” said SEEQC’s CEO and co-founder John Levy.

“Our collaboration with SEEQC is a good example of how QuantWare speeds up quantum computer development,” said Matthijs Rijlaarsdam, managing director and co-founder of QuantWare. “The successful completion of this project will bring useful quantum computation a lot closer.”

About SEEQC:

SEEQC is developing the first fully digital quantum computing platform for global businesses. SEEQC combines classical and quantum technologies to address the efficiency, stability and cost issues endemic to quantum computing systems. The company applies classical and quantum technology through digital readout and control technology and a unique chip-scale architecture. SEEQC’s quantum system provides the energy- and cost-efficiency, speed and digital control required to make quantum computing useful and bring the first commercially-scalable, problem-specific quantum computing applications to market.

The company is one of the first companies to have built a superconductor multi-layer commercial chip foundry and through this experience has the infrastructure in place for design, testing and manufacturing of quantum-ready superconductors. SEEQC is a spin-out of HYPRES, the world’s leading developer of superconductor electronics. SEEQc’s team of executives and scientists have deep expertise and experience in commercial superconductive computing solutions and quantum computing. SEEQC is based in Elmsford, NY with facilities in London, UK and Naples, Italy.
